We're happy to host pieces by new writers that fit the culture and purpose of the site.  What did you find interesting this week?  I do mean 'week;' we probably won't publish you more often than that.

Ideally, this is a place of conversation and community, so no drive-bys.  We want contributors who do more than put words on a page.  We're also interested in passion, so don't write about something just because it's popular.

Pieces should be 600-1000 words, well-written and have one easily-identifiable point (something that fits in a title pretty easily).  You'll get your name on the piece and if the site ever makes any money, we'll share the wealth (but no promises).

If you're writing about media or entertainment (books, tv, movies, games, etc) try to tell us why you like something (or don't like it), why it's important, or what makes it unique and worthwhile.  If it's a straight review, we're probably only going to post one, so it better be really good (or you better know somebody).

If you're writing about politics or current events, we're not looking so much for ideology as some perspective on how something is done.  We don't want a piece about why Mayor Pete should be President, but if you've got an original perspective on some campaign strategy he's tried out, that might be interesting.

Bottom line: if you care, there's a chance someone else will, too.  Give it a try.
